Hamster - Ruffles' arrival

On Saturday the 24th March I (Kim) got a hamster, a Syrian one, and it's really sweet. It's name is Ruffles and she's a girl, she's got beige streaks all over her white body, and she's 7 weeks old.

To get a hamster I needed to have certain equipment:

  • a cage
  • hamster food
  • a water bottle
  • bedding
  • wood flakes
  • treats
  • excercise tubes
  • and a offical RSPCA pet guide care for your hamster book.
  • When I got home the hamster stayed in her box, while me and mum sorted her cage out. I filled the water bottle up, and put the food in the food bowl. Then we put the wood flakes into the cage and a piece of bedding for her house. Yes, she has a house, a red one. It's quite small but big anough for her to stand up in, it has a door and a window, which she is quite fond of.

When we got her out of the box to put her in the cage, we found that she had gnawed her way through the box, but luckily she didn't escape because there were two boxes, the smaller one(the one that she was in) in the bigger one. Ruffles is now in my room enjoying herself, and getting used to her new surroundings.
