Legoland

On Wednesday 25th July 2001 we went to Legoland. It was a lovely sunny day. We got our tickets and went in, the first thing we noticed was that everything in Legoland (except in Duplo Gardens) is made of tiny little lego bricks.

Dan and I went on a ride called Space Tower where you have to pull ropes to get you to the top. There was a giant Dinosaur which moved and roared!

As there was no milk for our milkshakes at Papa Mole's, we went on a ride called Sky Rider. It was a ride where this car thing with a propeller at the back goes slowly round a track to show you some of the sights in Legoland.

When we got off that ride they had some milk at Papa Mole's so we could have our ice-cream milkshakes and a cake. It was delicious.

When we had finished breakfast we went to Miniland. Miniland is a place where places in countries are built out of thousands of lego bricks. Wires underground help certain vehicles move while wires underwater help boats to move. My favourite was London, the Tower of London was so cool, somebody had even thrown a penny on top!

We then went to Duplo Gardens and the waterworks Dan and Jon got fairly wet but I got soaking wet! Bob wasn't bothered because he and mum were on a ride called Whirly Birds where helicopters are controlled by levers, one makes you go up the other makes you turn round. It's called Whirly Birds because there are lots of birds in nests (you can see them when you go up) and because it spins round.

We next went on a ride called Fairytale Brook. It was a boat ride where you don't get wet. It included many fairytale characters as well as things to look for.

In the leaflet it showed us an area of Legoland called Traffic and it had a driving school, so when we got there me and Dan went on, (the age limit was 6-13.) We waited in a queue and then we watched a screen and a cartoon lego man showed us how to drive our lego car. Then we went onto the road and drove our cars, when we had finished we passed through the exit a lego assistant handed out our driving licences.

When we got out mum and Jon had lined up for this little drivers thing for 3-5's. When it was Jon's turn he and the other children went into a place with chairs (like the place where I watched the screen.) While some other children drove around an assistant showed Jon and the some other children how to drive their car. Then Jon went out and drove around. he was really good! There was this little girl crying because she couldn't drive her car so an asssistant had to drive it for her and Jon turned a really tight corner around them both! At the end Jon and the other children were given their driving licences and they waved them in the air.

We really wanted to go to this place called Wild Woods because there was a ride there called Pirate Falls and you get wet and I love getting wet. It took 45 mins to queue and the ride was good because we really needed to cool down. We climbed into a boat and it took us on a great ride where at the end we went down a great big slope and got very wet!

After that we started to look for food for lunch, our search brought us to Castleland where we found a food stand I got popcorn and Mum, Dad, Dan, Jon and Bob had a hotdog. When we had eaten me, Dan, Jon and Dad went on this ride called Dragon Coaster it started with trolls made out of lego bricks one even blew on us (he had really smelly breath!) Then we came out of the tunnel and the fun began.

After the excitment of Dragon Coaster we wandered back to My Town and went on this merry-go-round swing thing. The man running it had a sense of humor and he tried to make the ride more interesting by dancing around and playing a harmonica. There was also a lego character in a swing. We went to the My town station after that ride and caught the train. Dad gave me the video camera so I could film and before I knew it the journey was over.

After that we went to this bike shop and there was this really cool bike made out of lego as well as parts of bikes to show you how they work.

Soon it was time to go home so we went to the Big Lego Shop and bought souvenirs. I got a lego pen and a keyring, Dan got a foam shield, Jon got a sword and Bob got a dragon keyring and a lego brick model of a dinosaur. The long journey home began, it was the most fabulous day out in the world!
